Recycled - an aviation Thursday Prompt
I find that each story I write is an adventure.
The first paragraph of this one is true. The occurrence happened at a Pinch-a-Penny about a week ago.
*smiles... and slowly fades to black...

"My step-mother was an army nurse and dated the bombardier of the Enola Gay." - Did he ever talk about it? Actually the book I just finished had as one character a fictionalised crew member of the Enola Gay who was overcome with guilt, I don't believe any of them were particularly troubled by what they had done but I stand to be corrected. Well sit.
Good story V, and I wonder what the last mission is?

I was wondering what the mission might be too...
I asked her, 'Well what happened?"
She told me, "One day he got secret orders and I never saw him again."
That made total sense to me. My brother also related a story she told about getting a ride in a P-38. One other that she told was about the day a big army truck rolled in and dropped a 55 gallon drum of peanut butter. She said all the nurses literally dug in up to their elbows when they popped the lid - it being something from home that they all craved. She followed the story with, "To this day I can't eat peanut butter."

I've always been amazed at how your voice so often ties the past to the present. With your stories, history doesn't hulk over the readers or blind them with spectacle. It merely walks alongside, connecting with a glance and a smile and letting us know that we're never truly alone.
Thank you.

you're so kind to me Wire... it is amazing to me that history is right there with us.
Two Christmas' ago, we were in England staying with my daughter and family. Their house was right off the runway of an old American bomber base. The runway is all that is left, and that's going. One night is sounded like there was a party going on downstairs with people walking up and down the stairs. My daughter heard it too and actually came in and checked on us.
The past is never very far away.
*hugs...
