Funny thing about that, there was a debate about if gargoyles have nipples. The original creator Greg Weisman said yes they do, just not prominent but they are there. In disney's weird contention they never gave them nipples in the show or in the comics (despite characters like Triton, Li Shang and Tarzan having nipples). And yet the recent official Gargoyles figures released by Neca they do have nipples, but very faded looking, almost as if they couldn't decide on giving them nips or not.
