Why do I get the feeling that my previous work at Toys 'R Us is haunting me? lol. This happened all too frequently and when I called in sick legitimately, I got yelled at for it.

My job at a 7-11 did this as well when I had to take a half day and then later tried to get a day off due to horrible pain in my lower back. When I FINALLY managed to get a day off to go to the doctor, I found out it was shingles and that if I'd come in earlier, it would have been treatable, but as it was I had to tough out the rest of it. Needless to say I was NOT happy at my boss.

The first time I ever called in sick for my first job, the boss told me I was unreliable because I always called in sick and said I could no longer work in that department. My boss now is really understanding though :)

I can easily identify with your character's situation. The last time I took a 'sick day' off (from my janitorial gig) was the day after Thanksgiving, 2008 - one day after I nearly had a 'mini-stroke' - and I was still docked a day's pay for being in the hospital! I SOOOOO need a better, higher-paying job with a medical/dental plan!

Don't think that's gonna happen if they elect Trump and banish- er, deport Obama to Kenya.
