The Mig-2000 was the product of a USAF design study in the 1980s, which was designed to predict the attributes a Soviet 5th Generation Air Superiority Fighter would have.
As you can see by the result, they got it wrong.
It *does* bear a superficial resemblance to the Mig 1.44 MFI, but the fuselage fairing, wings, vertical stabilizers, LERX, and engines are completely different.
No matter, though --- it's a MUCH more compelling "threat" to drive funding for the Advanced Tactical Fighter Program than ACTUAL Soviet aircraft!
