I apologize for the recent flooding. I felt a bit sad because of this little incident... Well, if you saw the last submission you know. I got a bit depressed so I drank a bottle of cider and watched Borat (the movie, you know).
Then I suddenly ARTED. Look mom! No lineart! I started working on this 4 pm or something. Now after six hours it's finally done. My elven mage Eruval Tremerion is being his old arrogant self. He says I need more self respect.
(Sorry for the big filesize... It's just that Eruval's ego is so big it needs a lot of space. And for anyone who might be watching me - sorry for being so slow replying to your messages and checking out your arts. I'm recovering from a tiny nervous breakdown I had last weekend... I'm a human disaster).

Awww! *hugs*
Nervous breakdowns are a bummer. But I'm happy that we're both recovering.
Thank you for the kind comment, Lemuria. I was afraid that there might be too much red in the picture, but then again there's nothing much I can do about Eruval's personal taste in clothes and hair dye. ^_^;;

Many thanks! *bows deep and gets stuck in the position due to sudden back pains*
I did this mostly with Photoshop, but I used Painter to splat more painterly blotches of colour to the larger areas. Painter is a cool proggy, but unfortunately it keeps crashing on my comp for some obscure reason. It also corrupts the save files, so I need to be careful.

Really? Cool! Maybe they're related? xD
Though the thing with elves is that they all look so elvish. No matter whether they're girls or boys they often tend to be pretty and snooty and since everyone has long hair and purdy eyelashes they're quite hard to tell apart from each other.

There weren't many layers involved, actually. I did the blurry skin colour first and started to fill in the details by layers that were set to multiply. The face, the hair, the pendant and the robe were the main layers. The rest were shading ones I merged down every time I moved to work on different bits of the piece. I used a lot of smudge tool; in Photoshop for the little details and in Painter for the bigger areas.
