I am NOT very confident in realism, my style is too rough, and too cartoony.
BUT doesn't mean I don't appreciate the style or try it out from time to time.
This is my IRL Appaloosa Mare, Cinder! We have been together since she was 3, she is 12 now. This horse has gotten me through the trials of growing up in my twenties, and always excited to greet me at the gate, regardless of how I feel, or how long we have been apart. The longest has been a month and I hated it, due to mental health and Depression yadaa yadaa.
Cinder has made me a firm believer in Equine therapy, and at one point, I wanted to be an Equine Therapist so I could share the healing that horses like Cinder have gifted me.
This mare is QUIRKY as HELL. She knows she is BABY and let's everyone in the pasture know it when I or my husband is around. She will chase off other horses away from my husband and coddle him when he takes a ride on her. She takes care of her rider, though you may not always see it that way in the moment. If anyone ANYONE falls off a horse near her, she acts like that animal just offended her entire bloodline and I have to hold her back from getting too close to situations we don't need. Her favorite treat is Strawberry pop tarts, and they must be brand name. ... She knows the difference and will promptly let you know by dribbling the "filthy lies" from her mouth.... On you. Lol I've let her try some of my drinks I bring around, and I love wine. Now she does too. If I don't share and she knows I have some fruity alcoholic drink.... I get a pissy mare-child.
And that's just the surface of her quirks. I used to compete in 3day eventing and Hunter/Jumper competitions, going as far as qualifying for consideration of JR. Olympic Try outs, but due to a terrible accident with my equine partner and the lack of respect for a lost life, I left competitions and haven't done Cross Country Jumping since, or much jumping in general. Cinder however was started off training as a jumper. And she jumped.... Everything. Creeks, logs. Sticks, tires, sheep (stuffed sheep, but still a sheep lol) eventually she calmed into her role as a life long companion and therapy horse for me. We like long trail rides, playing around with mounted medieval combat (swords, bows and lances), herding cows (or at least trying to) and just about anything we feel like for the day.
I could go on and on, but imma force myself to wrap this up lol
This peice doesn't do her justice, but it's the closest I could ever get to her unique spotted, speckled, splashed, roaned AND chromed coat color.
