Beautiful piece, O-K. It's been a rough year for Mitch-- his team has been hit by so many injuries, they've sunk to the bottom rank in the league, and the rest of the season doesn't look good. Maybe playing the guitar is Mitch's way of trying to forget how bad things have gotten. I love how he's playing a square-head nylon string. That strikes me as being the perfect instrument for a muskrat from Iowa-- he still hasn't given up his student model. His hands look amazing and his expression is just perfect, a little sad, but mostly detached-- I think the music is working.
Also, the shadows on this piece are dazzling. The levels of shading on the locker doors hint at Mitch being in a darker place, and there's something awesomely harsh about the streaks of shadows under Mitch and the gym bag. Outstanding job, O-K!

Funny you should say Mitch hasn't given up his student model, because one of the first pictures I drew of him - way back in 1988 BC - was of he and his friend Roscoe jamming away on guitars, and I made Mitch's look like a student model. :O
So, nice catch.
And interesting way to read into it. I do wonder how guys like Mitch, who's only about 21, or Wags Vaughters, who's 20 and on the Mayors, are handling such a harsh season. Is it possible to have a sense of proportion at that age and not get bogged down?

Wow, this is very nice! Great moment here, and Mitch looks great! :)
Only thing is the jersey would say "Ruffcorn" (his last name) instead of Mitch. But that's a detail that most people wouldn't notice or care about. It doesn't take away from the awesomeness of the picture anyways. :)
