Haha, I don't know why but this got a chuckle out of me.

Hands are always awkward to draw just due to their natural shape. You can draw a hand exactly as it should be, but it can look a little 'off' simply due to its design. I used to marvel at my own hands when I was young, about how weird they are. I suppose the trick in drawing them is to ensure proper use of highlight/shade to emphasise its shape, as to avoid the alienesque appearance.
