I heard that she (I saw it was a she under there) makes these kinds of mascots for a living and very much hoped to find a commuity she could fit into, and seeing the large interest in mascot animals in the fandom she put a "furry" costume on her human mascot.
I liked this costume better once I learned this and found it more charming, at first though I will admit I WTFed.

This is Cindy Baker! She's a performance artist who parodies "The artist as a celebrity" by actually dressing up in a costume OF HERSELF. In this case, she dressed her costume up as herself dressed up as a furry. She's a really neat lady and I thought it was way cool that she came all the way down from Canada just to see what the rest of us do with our costumes.

Thanks for the information. It's really fascinating what she's doing. Every time I go out into public I feel like I'm throwing some kind of veil over myself because I know I can be seen and judged. What a wild way of thinking to actually dress up as yourself but still have the general sense of anonymity, knowing that people can consider it may be anyone under that costume.
