Character
Jost Trotwick, born in the Danube-valley in Upper Austria, has always been a freak of nature. Not only was he born as a taur in a non-taur family, he was also born as queen-conjoined twins. To the surprise of the doctors, despite having two heads, each with a different personality, he still has one mind. Even to the ship's doctor, Jost existence is still one big medical mystery. Jost doesn't seem to mind his odd body, and finds it practical that he has two heads he can use to look in different directions and two upper bodies that can help him do two things at once. Ever the curious mind, he took an affinity for the natural sciences, and enlisted in Starfleet Academy to chase his dream exploring space. He passed the science subjects on the academy with very solid grades, and he was stationed on the UFS Pioneer soon after graduation. He hasn't changed ship since then.
He started out as an astrophysics specialist, but he worked his way up to chief science officer. But only 31 years old, he still has a lot of growth potential. He's really fond exploring the new phenomena and worlds they encounter along the way. But just as much as he likes exploring outward, he also likes to occasionally explore inward...
Jost's two personalities are quite a contrast of each other. His extraverted side is clearly the dominant one, and often assumes control over most of his body. He's quite sociable, and is quite clear in explaining his knowledge to others (but can get quickly frustrated when someone doesn't seem to understand a thing that's obvious to him). Due to a small genetic defect, only his dominant side is able to grow antlers. His introverted side doesn't like to draw attention, and is often not that communicative. But its this half that does most of the reasoning work, in a very methodical manner. One of his experiments resulted in him splitting his mind, trying to get to know his introverted half better without him assuming control, which at the time he still named "Jost-beta". His introvert half decided to take the name Hans instead, and Jost has been using this name for his other half ever since.
In his free time, he likes to play games of strategy, and is a quite skilled chess player. He also likes to participate in role playing games, and it's one of the few social activities where Hans also is an active participant in. He's playing a double role in a D&D campaign together with a group of the ship's staff members.

For practical reasons, this is a two-piece uniform (or actually three piece, since he has two upper halves), where the belt separates the coat and the trousers. The trousers have a zipper at the top, where they're easy to reach for him. Underneath the coat, he also wears a standard issue blue shirt, of which you can see the ends of the sleeves just sticking out from under the coat.
A single piece uniform does exist with a zipper along his entire back, but he prefers the variant with separate trousers.

It's a bit complicated. The two halves actually form one mind, having full access to the knowledge and memories of both brains, so he considers his other half part of himself. However, both heads have a different personality, and both personalities do have their own names (Jost for the dominant one, Hans for the subdominant one).
The one experiment that broke the link between the two brains, they became two distinct persons, and in that experiment they did consider themselves as brothers. That's how Hans got his name, and even after the minds had been recombined, he still refers to that side of himself as Hans. So... you could call the two personality virtual brothers, I guess...
