The goofy part of this story is that meowscarada's flower is literally the yoyo from its previous evolution. It works in the same way, because the flower isn't actually floating, it's implied it's controlled by a string in the same way the yoyo is, so in reality meowscarada actually keeps its yoyo.
Even if it didn't, I'd have to question the mental stability of a character who breaks down so thoroughly at having lost a child's trinket which could be bought at any general or toy store for like a dollar.
