Tesem is an ancient Egyptian word that can be translated as "hunting dog". Usually this term was used to refer to any hunting dog with long legs, a dry type of constitution, erect (and later, when dogs very close to modern Saluki / Slugi appeared, and hanging) ears, a ring-shaped, sickle-shaped tail.
The first mention of dogs similar to tesem dates back to 3200-3000 BC.
