One source of inspiration was the post apocalyptic short story "There Will Come Soft Rains" by Ray Bradbury featuring poem of the same name by Sarah Teasdale

But I suggest you something unexpected - a 1984 Soviet animated short adaptation of Bradbury's story! Compared to to the text, it is rather a thriller about the horrors of a nuclear war.
