UCAS is... shadowrun?

YAY! *noms!* ;) I haven't played or seen shadowrun stuff.. in like.. forever

My gaming group has run a few games of it. Shadowrun is awesome; it definitely doesn't get enough love.

The UCAS and California Free State were always my favorite countries of origin. I don't think I ever made a Shadowrun character who was any other nationality.

nope, orcs currently, and the VP is a very smexy elvish woman. For a short time (until someone killed him with a tac nuke) the UCAS president was a dragon. :)

Ahh, President Dunkelzahn. RIP

Dunkelzahn's death left a lot of great Runner potential. :) He left a lot of weird-assed things in his will, some of which were up for grabs to anyone who could find them. Shadowiki has a list of his Will actually, and its full of a few good adventure ideas.

I wouldn't think about it too much here. The red and blue divisions just happened to look best where they are.

Liberals and Conservatives are both right-wing like the Republicans, NDP is the sole left-wing party in Canada. They're just a lot less severe than American politics.

California is their own free state in Shadowrun. Except for the Bay Area, which was run for some time by a Japanese warlord named Saito.

It more or less be run by Gang bangers than any from Japan, for reals its already run by gang Bangers. Take oakland for instance, they'ed never be ruled by asians unless you think more San jose even though that city is spanish name. San Fran might get a run with a japanese but so many Chinese up there too. I am so very very very conflicted. A majoriety would be run mainly by Latino's since its mostly populated by Latino's. Coming from a Mexican American *me!*

San Diego and the LA Area are pretty well owned and run by Azatlan, the Mexican Corp. But the Bay Area is owned by the three major Japanese zaibatsus. And by 2063, after a major Quake nearly leveled japan, the Corps pulled all their own troops back home for recover, and left the Bay Area in the hands of Warlord Saito.

Other than SF and LA area though, California is pretty much governed by it's on democratic, nearly powerless government from Sacramento. And even though the Corps own most of the companies in those areas, they only have Corporate Territoriality for the property they own, they don't run the city itself.

Things went just a little differently in my own game. After Saito was killed, San Francisco was divided up into smaller areas for all the major Corps, much like Berlin was after the War. It made getting across town a pain in the ass, but it sure upped the potential for some good Running. :) I also had Ghostwalker And hestaby pretty much level all the property that Azatlan owned in San Diego after they did something to really piss off the Dragon Council. Now Cali Free has control of San Diego and it's ports again.

I know nothing about Shadowrun anymore as I haven't played in like ... 15 years!

Mexico is now part of the Aztlan Empire (which also conquered most of Central America and even parts of North and South America).

Damn, first guy got it, I was gana say, TOTALLY Shadowrun lore lol. Course my buddies and I are a bit more prone to specific cities for campaigns.

and then they'll add Mexico later then after... THE WORLD. The state of the Union is strong!

Aye. After the Awakening, California (now California Free State) went through a very ugly secession with the old United States. Relations between the UCAS and California Free State have remained uneasy at best.

I would try browsing half.com, they seem to have a lot of otherwise hard-to-find books.

Ah, Shadowrun. Such an awesome setting, but I still haven't learned the system on a practical level.

The question is: Do you really want to see U.S. Politicians in charge of Canada?

Well, it beats the alternative -- namely, the Native Americans performing genocide on us.

Besides, all things considered, it's not such a bad gig; the UCAS is a stalwart supporter of gay marriage, for example.
