งูเขียวหัวจิ้งจก.
Ahaetulla prasina.
The Oriental Whip Snake (like all members of the Ahaetulla-genus) might be some of the most distinctive looking serpents you can come across; if it wasn't for its extremely long and thin physique already, its keyhole shaped pupils are what make these snakes truly unmistakeable and unique. Combined with their head shapes (in Thai, their name literally means "Green Snake with Gecko Head" while in German, it is called Baumschnüffler, which means "Tree Sniffer"), the structure of its pupils is a feature that enables them to see with binocular vision. The whole Ahaetulla-genus is rear-fanged and thus, they do possess venom - though it is considered harmless to humans.
Ahaetulla prasina is the largest of the four species occuring in Thailand and while it commonly comes in green, yellowish brown and even greyish variants are also known.
