it has been found that possession of candles by dragons are intentional, as the candles are inhabited by benevolent draconic spirits, some not even deceased, but rather playing with their magic to take on a different form.
these Dragolit happen to become the flame on an everlasting candle, able to command the candle or the wax on it as they please.
on their own, Dragollit are capable of defending themselves by controlling the flame or nearby wax, but this does not matter much, as although the candle of a Dragolit can be damaged (albeit very durable), a broken candle leaves the Dragolit and any spirits inside unscathed.
