Having bungled something regarding writing with a friend -- nothing hurt save my pride, nothing expressed save my deep chagrin -- I decided to write my way out of my idiocy. Taking a leaf from the book (and drawing pad) of
steamfox (that's his illustration in the thumbnail, at https://www.furaffinity.net/view/524034/), I created a small biography of the first great American-Draconic hero, Gordon Sharptooth.

I had similar musing about what would happen in the world of Naomi Novik's Temeraire was moved from the Napoleonic Wars to the 20th century.

Interestingly, it was the clash of dragon-versus-battleship at Leyte Gulf, and at Iwo Jima, that came first, before Dragons at Midway came to mind. Which did raise the question of the world-wide distribution of dragon-kind as of the late 18th century to the early 20th century, something I intend to tackle shortly.

I am definitely rehearsing a bit on the various dragon species of the world as of the 1940s. The whole notion of how the USN developed dragon fighting doctrine is an interesting one, in my mind. Weapons? Height? Recon v. offense? Dragon-carrier design? Riders or no?
