The show's star attraction turns out to be a mechanical female felimorph, finely crafted of brass and metals, and with the ability to answer questions posed by the Audience, with a little "Soothsaying" thrown in. The great gears grinding away in the background and the steam tubes seem to be just part of the show, but they add a lot of visual "Drama" to the stage presence of the Automaton.

Yes! My friend Chris linked me to a site which featured a French Automaton which was able to write passages and draw images. The site even featured images of the complicated cam and pin device which ran the contraption. It was kind of like a "Music Box" that drew pictures instead of played bells or plucked reeds. It's kind of humbling to think that the device is getting close to being over two hundred, fifty years old, and is maintained in good working order.
Great Heavens! What a fine piece of craftsmanship! Would love to meet her in person!
And I bet my brothers would love to get a look her workings . . . living art is another of the favored hobbies . . . a little something they picked up from their Keeper, Idion, the Craft Master.

Of course.

Idion is the one on the right in the image. In Mobius years he's over 2000 years old, but he's amassed more than 10x that in experience. He's studied, practiced, and mastered every form of craft known from science to sorcery, from mechanics to metaphysics, from Victor Frankenstein's dabbling in re-animating the dead to creating entirely new forms of life from total scratch.
After "retiring" from looking after Shade and Night, he retraveled his old stomping grounds, and cultivated his own World Tree for a new home. A tree made up of dozens of different collosal boughs woven together into a titanic specimen so massive she can hold islands within her branches and has roots that delve all the way down to the underworlds.
He still travels the many multi-verses, and does the "odd job" for the Throne Most High on occassion . . . but mostly he spends his days just enjoying life, building and creating all manner of wonders, and just looking out for the many wary travelers that happen upon his ever moving hideaway.
He's even taken on students who show great promise . . . such as young Tinker, an outcast mouse from another Mobius, who he taught the various crafts and skills of wood working, metal working, clockworks, gem work, tailoring, and painting to help him become an incredible toymaker.
Among Idion's collection of wonders is his personal Butler, Balberri. Originally a junked guardian some mage had abandoned in an arcane dump, Idion salvaged him, patched him together and over the centuries incorporated every form of Construct craft he came upon into Balberri's structure. By the time Idion's travels brought him to a futuristic city, Balberri had been rebuild into a masterful fusion of mechanized innovations . . . and was just as much organic as he was mechanical and magic . . . a quite literal "jack of all trades" with a powerful body loaded with all the tools and gear a one-bot work crew and army would need, and possessing a personality that crosses, Richie Rich's Cadberry, Ducktales' Duckworth, and Black Butler's Sebastian.
So, Mam'zelle Mechanique would be quite the marvelous work of art in Idion's eyes and somebody he'd enjoy meeting.
