A rare portrait of the elusive and reclusive Lady Astrid Falworth holding a cosmos flower picked from her private garden.
It has taken me too long to get a beautiful piece that highlights this character alone. Her life is usually defined by those around her: her husband, her children, or her worshippers if she's in angelic form. But she is a noble lady, too, and a woman that has always struggled to find her own identity in a chaotic life with continual demands when her primary nature is to please others, to adapt to their wishes, and to exist for their sakes rather than her own. Her real personality is subtle and difficult to perceive, but it can be found in her private garden which is something she has learned to look after for her own enjoyment. It can be seen when she goes there to read stories of romance and adventure from the family's extensive library. It can be heard in the songs she sings to her children, and felt in the way she caresses the leaves by the path when she's walking alone. It's not absent, only it's much quieter than the wishes of those around her...
Ger Shanti did an amazing job of composing this piece of art. I only made suggestions as to the dress style and requested the flower to be a cosmos. The colour palette, dress design, jewellery, hair style, and background were all the artist's ideas!
