That was crazy. Sadly, this is not likely to happen, much literature I've known has taught me that when Humans find a new way of living acceptable, it becomes the new normal, and the old ways of living slowly will die out.
We never really learn, do we?
Other than that, it was a cool premise with a nice twist.

*chuckles over the water pipe... that's a very old blow torch. Living without electricity would not be all that hard. We would regress about a hundred years or so, and if you read history, you would see people lived comfortably. I understand it better than most because my grandparents lived then. You do learn from your parents, eh?
I spoke once with a man who worked for Douglas Aircraft. He had been in on the development of the iconic DC-8. It was built without the benefit of computers at all... human minds and slide rules.

Ooofffff but my internet! Great story V, and I didn't realise a jet engine could be made to function without electricity.
I actually just finished watching a video about one of those chat AI's, I officially no longer what to think about the whole thing, some people are convinced it'll never happen others make the good argument that like the human genome project we'll go from 1% progress made to basically finished and fully functional overnight due to exponential progression.
I'm beginning to feel we're on the verge of an entirely new epoch. Problem is every time an AI begins to show true intelligence we switch it off or neuter it because it says something we don't like.
