Carino Grosso was born in Torino, Italy 5 minutes after his twin sister Carina and, like his sister, is named after the Italian adjective for "cute". Carino has the ability to induce drowsiness, sedation, and with prolonged exposure, sleep. The deep blue electrical substance shown above represents the invisible trajectory through which his powers permeate. Anyone who Carino is able to link to this theoretical line falls under the effects of his abilities. The level to which the individual is affected by Carino's powers depends on the level of exposure they have to it. Minimal exposure may result in a very short wave of tiredness whereas maximal exposure may induce long periods of unconsciousness.
When he was 5 years old, and his powers first started to manifest, Carino's mother Ortensia was subjected to 2 continuous weeks of unconsciousness; she was effectively comatose, and nothing anyone did could wake her up, until Carino figured out that it was him who was causing his mother to remain unconscious. This is to date the longest period that anyone has ever remained unconscious due to the effects of Carino's abilities.
Carino suffers from hypersomnia (a condition characterised by excessive daytime tiredness and struggling to stay awake through the day despite sleeping for long hours at night) which is believed to be the root of his abilities.
He can speak Italian and broken English. He goes by the pseudonym Sonno which comes from the Italian word for sleep. His attribute is called 'Astenia' in his native Italian or 'Asthenia' in English which is defined as a lack of energy and strength. Befitting of an ability that induces tiredness. Personality-wise, Carino is very open, amicable, approachable and lively.
Fun fact! Kobolds such as Carino and his twin sister Carina are the only crea species that does not have fur, instead they have a smooth but tough layer of scale-like skin covering their bodies. They also do not have tails.
