Final of the three character interaction sketches I did. This one's for Mate397, featuring his dragon Matsuo launching a fiery punch at my marten, Aarvid! Aarvid's earthen defense is impeccable, Matsuo's flame-fueled offense is relentless! Who can outlast the other?
You might notice the quality of this one is a lot higher than the other two, it's because I used this one as an opportunity to practice a different method of shading, where I cover both characters in full shadow and then carve out where the light should be. It's a reverse way of thinking about shading and I quite enjoyed how it worked this time.
I'm also trying to get a little more confident building geometry for the backgrounds so I took a bit more time with this one.
Anyways, fun piece! I'll certainly be looking to do more of these interaction pieces in the future, so keep an eye on my page for the next time!

I totally agree with the location, I think it's really well done and the dynamic positions of Matsuo and Aarvid too!
On the other hand I can't talk too much about the shadows because I don't know enough about them to see the improvement XD Sorry!
Anyway I like the atmosphere of the scene= )
And I don't have the answer on who will win but it will be a good duel!
