made for patchworktail on twitter
Kiri is made with minky; the clothing is made of cotton fabric and small bits of felt with hook and loop to attach. They stand at about 10 inches from the top “base” of the hair to the bottoms of the feet. The details on the plush are a mix of machine embroidery and applique. The arm wraps and cloak are removable-- the cloak can be slipped on and off, the arm wraps have hook and loop to attach.
What a cutie!
Originally I had plans to dye Kiri’s coat colors, but after tossing it around in my head and tons of color sampling, I decided to use base colors. Though, the.. I believe is Natural, I used for the chest/belly etc. was on super short supply in my stash. i ended up finding tons of scraps in my bins! I think I also used scraps for the paws, ears and nose too!
Patterning was simple, it’s a recycled pattern of my other feral plushies. The head gave me a the tiniest bit of grief though. The cheek fluff was going to be patterned separately, decided against it and just patterned it into the head. Stuffing was difficult since there was an extra pocket of fabric that the stuffing could be pushed into. Stuffing the cheeks, or the patterning in general, gave Kiri an odd football shaped head that thread sculpting had to fix. ^^;
The base body was the easiest part after I got to the cloak... I got super cocky with patterning the cloak. I remade it twice, specifically the collar. The original collar came out TOO baggy and no handsewing in the world could fix it. I spent too much time trying to fix it when remaking it could have taken much less.
In the end I absolutely LOVE how the cloak came out-- and once again I’m getting more comfortable working with cotton fabrics. :) Making the checkered pattern on the arm wraps was super fun too!
Keeping it short and simple for now, since this little one was completed a few weeks ago and I don’t recall much else. BUT Kiri was super fun to work on! Especially with such adorable markings!
