Jin-tao's the Chief Operating Officer of Golden Advent, a multinational corporation with its international headquarters in New Haven City. The company needed a site fairly close to New York, without actually being in the United States.
(This is the Spontoon Island universe; part of the IRL State of Connecticut is an independent nation, and has been since 1781.)
His cousin Xia is the CEO, and lives on the other side of the planet on Spontoon, so sometimes the time difference gets inconvenient. Still, he does an excellent job, and between the two of them Golden Advent is a AFFLUENCE 500 company.
