I hope I can convey my thoughts without sounding disrespectful or rude. I apologize if it does, not my intent.
First off, your work as beautiful as always. But I think you've been continuing to hone your skills! I'm not sure I could accurately tell you why I say that in this picture specifically. But looking at some of your other recent work, all the small details feel more subtle. The edge shadows around where the teeth meet the gums, between the lips/jowls & gums, and between the tongue & teeth is thinner and more blended. The interaction between the tongue and canine teeth feel really perspectivaly present. Again not sure, but may be because of the highlight, flesh tone, and deep shadow being so close to each other. The teeth feel more...... polished maybe? With some deeper Subsurface scattering? Same with all the saliva. You can easily tell the tongue is a wet muscle, and has texture from your use of the highlights speckling. But the flowing/pooling slime looks amazingly defined and pops, but somehow still blends in nicely with the surface of the tongue and the environment shading deeper in.
Lastly the character as a whole. While still simplified (I don't mean that in a negative way, just compared to the maw work), seems more defined. Some deeper shadows around the head and snoot. A little more line work in the fur tufts? And lastly some depth of field blurring on the left of the character's head.
Again, I apologize if anything I stated comes across as a negative critique, it is not my intent. I'll end this unnecessarily like gush over your work. Wonderful and beautiful work!

Thank you, I appreciate it! I'm really trying to improve the quality of my work. But also productivity!
You are right that I simplify some details. so that the viewer's attention is attracted by the main thing in this pic - the maw! And I'm quite happy with how I worked on specific details (for example, teeth) and with the tone in general.
I'm glad that someone else notices progress in my skills :) I guess my study is really starting to pay off!
Thanks again!
