wow. this really, really is the best work I've done so far. this is one of those days when you have a revelation and realise all your hard work has paid off. I honestly still think a divine hand or a whole lot of luck guided me in this project. Regardless, I think I'm in love, with the picture, and the subject:)
Anyway, this is the colored end result of the orca transformation I've made. I'm taking this as divine providence and sticking with this form for a good while. I hope you all enjoy:D

would you believe the reflections are a lighting trick? I merely used a soft brush and eraser in photoshop, then muddled up his skin in places, using my sixth sense on what looked "reflectey" or not. more or less random placement, but I think I'm starting to be able to instinctually tell what "looks" right.
yeah, shame I don't have the time or cash to piece together a costume, heh? or better yet, simply find a way to transform...
Truth be told, at least this creature would be easier to make a suit for than my swan avatar, primarily due to wings and neck *nods*
Thanks again:)

*smiles* but what happens once we have met, hmm?
I tried to go for a powerful, but serene, look for him, patient and observant. its quiet moments like this that you feel last an eternity. I love the thought of swimming and discovering such a creature. perhaps he would take you deeper into his world?
anyway, I'm being overly introspective. too much depth and you seem creepy. what can I say, I'm in a dreamy mood.
I'm really glad you liked it:D

I think this is fabulous. Yeah, I know that sort of thing. Nice anatomy, etc.
But, I think you need to work on the lighting-instead of points of highlighting, there should be more swirls. And they shouldn't be everywhere-for example, under the thigh of her right leg (her right, not ours), because if the light is shining down from above, then it shouldn't be...beneath her.
Sorry to criticise your best work, but Constructive Criticism is a rare resource here.
Puppy eyes! Orcas are hawter than wolves.

*smirks* yah, I can understand what your saying in most of this. I'm not going to make excuses, I made some mistakes regarding the lighting, but I will say that the underwater light filteration masks that mistake well. I also must be honest and say that that right there is a male, but having large, soft pecs definately causes a misunderstanding: meh, chalk it up for blubber in odd places.
As for constructive criticism, I assure you if you manage to criticise me worse than I criticise myself, its only because you are a jerk LOL: what I mean is, noone is honestly as hard as I am on my own work. I appreciate constructive criticism; most of the time I'll have already seen the flaw folks mention. If thats the case, than you are confirming what I was afraid of in the first place(like the lighting in this picture). and rarely, people will catch flaws that I missed, too.
long story short, I appreciate the criticism:)

hmm.. maybe, maybe not. depends on how my character evolves. I can picture my avatar in all sorts of poses and situations in my mind, and am usually content to do so. usually when I do another avatar pic is when I feel the need for an update, or I get a direct request. so yah, we'll see how he turns out in the future
*laughs* I might as well tell you, this is a male. the application of blubber on the pecs creates a large, rounded chest that almost looks like breasts. part of me wants to say its an anatomical flaw, but another part really likes the way the build of the entire creature looks. I'll just have to wait and see if that anatomical aspect remains in future versions. I wanted to make him "streamlined yet full-bodied" as a true orca was, and got a build like this.
A friend and associate is working on a bit of a trade involving him, with the chest looking suitably masculine, if that helps alleviate confusion somewhat: what can I say: until I've drilled the precice anatomy of my creatures into the heads of those who would draw them with dozens of pics of each unique creature, I don't expect them to memorize, or even understand, the little details.
Hope this aspect doesn't throw you off too bad;)

Where the heck were my hands when I was typing this? I looked at the Gender tab and saw Female. I must have came across this image during one of my skimming responses and gave the wrong statement, blitzkrieging one image for another. Who cares of the gender, it still freaken cool regardless.
