You probably heard about that rolling german Easter egg, the Isetta, presented 1953 by the italian motor producer ISO on the Turin car exhibiton.
To get in you had to open the front door similiar to a 50´s fridge, the steering wheel drifted aside and swang back into your hands as soon as you closed the door.
The „Bayerischen Motorenwerke“ BMW were close to bankrupcy at that time, bought the construction license a year later and considered that little ride as their last straw to survive.
Right they were !
161.728 units were sold over the years, owners loved the little „Knutschkugel“ (Smoochball)
And it was even ordered for police and mail service, how fun !
Visiting the train museum in 2022 in Nuremburg i met this little yellow cutie on the top floor of the building, which hosts the „Museum of communication“ too

So... two museums for the price of one, what a bargain !
