Shamanism is the science of the kundalini. The kundalini is the spiritual energy that is cleansing the soul and healing the universe from the state of separateness which is caused by the mind. Normally, we have many mental distractions in our lives so we don't have to face the soul. We are not interested in spirituality because it means that we need to do a lot of inner work in order to grow spiritually and we always take the path which is the most comfortable, and our minds are selfish by nature. But praying and meditating helps to reduce selfishness and can cause a kundalini awakening. But the mind can come back again and we continue to live in it, despite having glimpses of awakening. This often happens when taking psychedelic substances, which is an easy way to awaken for some time, but without any spiritual efforts, we fall asleep again. It is often when things in life do not turn out in the "normal" way, for example when we fail at getting a safe job, or lose relationships that seemed important to us, or our bodies get a physical disfunction, or we are forced to abandon our properties, or in general our regular routine gets shaken a little so our social identity in society falls apart and we are completely faced with ourselves. There may be nothing more in the outer world to hold on to and spiritually, we are completely naked. In this state of "spiritual nakedness", the kundalini can enter us and awaken our light body, and we are forced to turn our attention away from the outer world toward the inner world, which is the state of meditation.
Normally, when things in life always go how we want, we continue to follow the selfish interests of the mind and we have no reason to go into meditation. But things do not always go how we want. When we feel like things seem to fall apart in our lives, it's actually grace, it's a calling. The universe doesn't give us what we want so we can wake up from the social matrix. That grace is cleansing us and awakening our inner shaman. Someone who has suffered the loss of their identity during a kundalini awakening is a spiritual healer or a shaman because he has encountered his own soul and has healed himself. He knows his own soul, so he also knows the soul of others. A kundalini awakening may invoke feelings of fear because it feels like the kundalini wants to take everything away from us, but it only causes fear and resistance because we are too attached to the outer world. It is an intense transformation, an eradication of the outward-oriented personality. There arises a different state of consciousness that doesn't fit anymore with society, so we don't even have an interest to try to get back what we have lost.
Shamans can enjoy to be alone, in silence. They may spend more time in meditation and contemplation than in socializing or working. They are more inside-oriented than outside-oriented. They have transcended the human characteristics like pride, greed, lust, sloth, gluttony, envy, wrath (the seven sins). But transcended means not repressed. We cannot transcend the human when we do not live and understand him. It's important not to confuse transcendence with repression. A shaman can easily reach trance-like and ecstatic states of consciousness. They are highly intuitive and they can have psychic abilities. They can function as channels to the spirit realm. They can be spiritual mentors and healers, or hermits and ascets. They don't interfere a lot in worldly life and have a vivid spiritual life. They live by effortless doing through non-doing, which means they are surrendered to the universe's will. Their love for the universe is so great that they don't have much interest in material things. They have a great understanding and compassion with the world's suffering. They are spiritual beings, or ascended masters, although still living in a body.
Shamans are the balancers of the universe. Humanity lives on ego, in a state of separateness, which is the universe's suffering. The ego arises because of not enlightened consciousness. But the shaman who is enlightened, has freed himself from his ego because he went through many spiritual cleansing and purification processes. Somebody who lives on ego, someone who thinks a lot, has no energy to heal the universe because he uses most of his energy to function in society. A shaman does not use most of his energy for thinking, and he does not heal by doing, he heals by presence, or meditation. A shaman has renounced functioning in society and often spends a lot of time in solitude, because in solitude, where the voices of the world are not present, he can hear the universe. He spends a lot of time in a dialogue with the universe and the universe is his guide. He also does not learn from books or scriptures, he learns from the messages which the universe sends him. He has no worldly relations. Whenever he relates, it is spiritual and never personal. He makes no difference inbetween friend and enemy, all beings are a part of his family, and he is married to the universe. The shaman lives in meditation, in oneness and union with the universe, beyond the state of ego, karma and separateness, and that's why they are healing without doing.
