Catsle
A Catsle is a hybrid of multiple creatures, with the primary creature being the Thylacine. All of them have a unique gem or crystal somewhere on their body, this gem/crystal can be limited to one spot or can span multiple body parts as one gem/crystal or multiple. A Catlse can have a gem or crystal but they cannot have both. They are mammalian creature with an upright posture with the unique ability to shapeshift. They can change some proportions of their body to give them a different appeal or to enhance hidden abilities from the hybrid creatures.
All Catsle have stripes similar to the Thylacine, the stripes usually follow the lower spine of the creature but can be on other body parts instead. The face will always have a lighter color around their eyes and mouth. The multiple creatures that make up the Catsle can vary to a small degree to a much more complex degree. All hybrid creatures have to be represented in the appearance of the overall design.
A Catsle’s life can start as a live birth or hatched from an egg, those that are live birthed will have a belly button and those hatched from an egg will not. The egg is always of a crystalline texture, but is not limited to any one crystal structure; some can be smooth while others can have complex patterns and shapes. The overall shape of the egg remains a traditional egg shape. The traits a Catsle has does not determine the type of birth, all female Catsle’s have the option to give birth in either fashion during development.
Traits from the hybrid creatures can give the Catsle unique abilities depending on the inherited genes, for example a bird trait can give the ability to fly and/or tweet. The ability doesn’t require traditional body parts to perform the action; like in our bird example large ears can be expanded to give the ability of flight without the need of wings.
Lore
The Catsle is a mutation of a Thylacine, created from over breeding of Thylacine with many other creatures. It is not known what created the mutation but it is believed that Thylancine genes have the perfect platform to bond with new genes keeping their new traits. It has also been discovered that the parents usually contribute one to an undefined number of traits to the offspring, there seems to be a limit to the number of traits a Catsle can have but it depends on the complexity of the traits inherited. Breeding of Catsles will not mutate the Thylacine base gene out of the creature.
The Entity that performed the early mutation experiments on Thylacine is lost to history and no well-defined record exists. It is not known how the Entity performed these experiments. It is believed that the Entity used the gems or crystals as a catalyst to aide in the bonding process of multiple genes. This gem or crystal has persisted through all successful mutations and the resulting Catsle is born with the gem or crystal.
After the Entity vanished Catsle continued to expand and diversify with many creatures. At one point they were subjected to classification and segregation due to the gem or crystal present on their body. The gem was believed to be an impure form of the crystal, despite no evidence to back up this claim. The Catsle race rejected this idea of classification and convinced other species to understand the gems and crystals are the same.
How to Obtain a Catsle
Catsle is an Open Species, meaning anyone can create a Catsle character.
There are two variants of Catsle, Gem or Crystal. Either can be created by anyone.
When creating a Catsle it must have the following rules observed:
• Catsle must have at least one gem or crystal present somewhere on the character
• Catsle can NOT have both gems and crystals
• Catsle must have stripes present on the character, even if it is only one stripe
• Catsle must have lighter color around the eyes and mouth
