Well, it’s done. I finally completed the reference sheet of my beloved OC, Aurora Lumina.

This redesign has taken me over a year since I started making her line drawings in August 2021. Countless hours were spent on drawing her and going back and forth with various iterations and then working on her mate, Kyro. It wasn’t until last September that I started rendering her by adding textures, shadows, highlights, and undertones, and I managed to complete her on this special day.
Not only is today my birthday (the 4th of Feb), but also is the day I created Aurora back in 2013. 10 years ago today! However, I didn’t start uploading my dragon art until 2016 on DeviantArt and then on FurAffinity in 2017. Can’t believe it’s been a decade since then and how far she has come. She started out as a feral, quadruped dragon at first, but then I changed her to an anthropomorphic dragon. Her glow marks changed too with different patterns and such. This new version completely changed her glow marks to be more simplistic and less obtrusive to her body. What remained the same, however, is her crest. Rather than come up with several designs of various horns, frills, fins, manes, spikes, etc., I gave her this head design as a clean and simple approach to her appearance.
Overall, this is the biggest redesign of my OC that I made, and just as she went through a design change, the world that she lives in will also have major changes. At first, the world was an alternate universe of our world with a modified geography of North America. The problem was that this change in geography would completely change the historical timeline and cause issues and plot holes in my world-building of the Aurorians. So instead, I plan to make a new fictional world with similar themes as I had planned. A world where there are 2 civilizations, the Aurorian dragons and humans, with the dragons residing on one continent, and the majority of humanity residing on the other side of the planet. It will be a long way away from building the world that I’m envisioning for my characters, but for now, I’ll be drawing and updating my OCs.
Now that I finished with Aurora, it’s time to move on to her mate, Kyro. It’ll take some time with his redesign, but I’m looking forward to working on him so that I can make art of them together.
