Sounds like someone still thinks they have a chance to get out of this. Though it also sounds like the person that thinks that also seems a bit more focused on exposing Lamb, rather then simply getting away from her.
I do wonder if Lamb and the leader have a history, if that grudge Lamb has is mutual for him. I can't be sure, but wasn't a bear abusing her as she made her escape? Did he manage to escape that carnage, or maybe that was his son Lamb killed?

Okay so does Fen meld into objects or does she meld into shadows? Because a brightly lit cave probably won't have much of the latter.
Also I do wonder what the speaker's objective is. Is it to escape? Because holding up in a cave probably won't do it unless you plan to hold them out. Is it to capture yourself a new slave? If so... well. That's not gonna go well. So the penguin is probably right because it's a shit plan

I know Lamb is kind of tunnel-visioning on saving the slaves, but if things really go south here, she may need a lesson on the term "acceptable losses." Think about it: a few slaves die, but the slavers, and above all the leader, also die. How many people would be safe from being enslaved if the leader dies? Many more than would die in a fight in this situation.
Plus, and not trying to defend them here. What if there's a case where some were forced into the business if someone were to threaten their own into slavery.
Not saying it's likely but still one of the possibilities. Cause people doing it against their will has happen before

If the plan was to have the slave/hostage out front call out when something happens, then that was a shit plan.
If the plan was for the crossbow birds to keep a constant/continuous watch on her and shoot when someone attempts rescue, then that was a better plan; but you should have explained better to the guards what 'constant watch' means.

I dunno. I still think that a decent Solarin mage could make this rescue very difficult for Fen and Lamb.
