(So since I’m constantly writing chapters, not finish them, then writing chapters in random order I’ve decided to upload a preview, for fun, enjoy)

The holo-table activates and holographic version of Cortana appears, the Master Chief rushes to the table. “Cortana, are you alright?”
“I'm fine” Cortana looks at him and smiles happily, "It's so good to hear your voice again, John. Is it true what they're saying about the Covenant?"
John turns his head away for a moment then looks at her again and nods “Yes, it is true…I miss you Cortana…”
Cortana sighs and her happy smile begins to weaken “I miss you too, John. Let me see if I can find any news of our friends in the galaxy, maybe they can help, last I checked the arbiters ship was somewhere near the Infinity…How are things going on the Ark?"
“Not good, the covenant outnumber us but we’re putting up a good fight”. John replied, there was a hint of desperation in his voice.
Cortana is silent for a moment before speaking "That's not surprising. They have always had more soldiers than us. But now that we’ve got some new allies on our side humanity will be stronger then ever. We're making progress against the covenant”
“Do you think we’ll win this war?”. John asks, he was never worried about losing but this time the threat was more dangerous then any of his previous missions.
Cortana sighs heavily and crosses her arms. "I hope so. Even though I'm not human and have no need to feel emotion towards humanity l…I still care about the people who live on Earth and the other planets under the Covenant's control."
She pauses for a moment, this worries John and he asks “Is something wrong?”.
"No, i just… I wanted to let you know that I'm glad you were able to survive Dural ‘Mdama’s attack." Her expression brightens slightly. "And I'm honored to have been entrusted with such a powerful Spartan."
John leans forward and places his hands on the holo-table for balance “Cortana, is there something your not telling me?”.
Cortana smiles weakly and tries her best to sound calm “Of course not," she answers quickly, her voice sounding shaky and nervous. "Just a few loose ends to tie up. I'll contact you once everything is settled."
“What do you mean?" John asks
"I'm sorry, I can't discuss it right now, I…I need to go…good luck John”
“Wait, are you going to be ok?”. John asks
"Don't worry about me.” A brief pause follows, Cortana says, "Bye for now, John."
John sighs and fights back the urge to cry “Goodbye Cortana”.
Cortana then cuts off communication. The table displays a message that reads: last transmission ended abruptly. unable to access any further data.
Whatever Cortana had intended to tell John remains a mystery. Master Chief makes his way outside the UNSC command center, he can hear footsteps in the distance and when he turns around he sees a black, armored figure walking toward him. It is a Covenant Elite, The armor is made out of a dark, metallic material that almost resembles obsidian. Its armour was clean meaning that the wearer must have taken very good care of it, The Elite had a energy sword on his hip and a carbine slung across his back. He stops when he reaches the Chief and regards him carefully.
John nods at the elite “Jek Mdelm”
The Elite looks at him and nods politely “Master Chief”

Well you wrote and that is progress and writing done.
Well, hard to get a lot from a snippet.
Tense really impacts audience's ability to see and feel with a flow of a piece. Its a very important thing.
Don't worry about me enjoying something, not an ideal goal. Worry about you having fun writing it and learning writing it. I like you have gone circle with your other stories, its a good thing to see your prices line up like that. Means your thinking in your story parts.

*smiles... I enjoyed this one with my coffee Kile.
A just so you know - when I finally got serious about writing, I had no concept of correct punctuation. In many cases, I still go rogue, because I have to see it in my mind, and sometimes it comes out a bit off. I argue with word.doc all the time.
