Back to good ol' Keeton City as Rick finds his place in it! Hopefully he doesn't fall in with the wrong crowd...
One of my favorite things about working on this little comic (and honestly the other comics that I've been showing too) is that I get to finally show a bit of what my characters' world looks like. It's one thing to have a place in your mind and written about in stories, and another thing entirely to have to say 'this is what the buses in this city look like' and 'these are the kinds of shops that folks pass by'. Before doing this comic, I actually agonized a bit over designing various logos for companies and brands in Keeton City. Thinking on that kind of micro scale was amazingly fun!
Ironically, after hammering out the logo for Keeton's public transit system and putting it on the bus, I discovered that Rick's dialogue ended up covering the whole thing up anyways. It'll show up again, as buses are the main way that residents get around Keeton City, but it just goes to show that the little details we can get caught up in can matter way more in our heads than on the final product ;)
And don't worry, you'll see what Rick is gasping at soon enough!
