Alex took a moment to process what had just happened. It was very hard to focus since he now had two sets of eyes that he could look through, and looking at his other body while it also looked back at him wasn't helping at all, it was like an infinite loop.

Looking at his own body, Alex realized that his clothes had also fused to him and to his other body, leaving behind a faint darker color where they used to be. There was also no trace of his manhood, not even on his other body that used to be the lower part of his original one. There was just a flat smooth surface. He wanted to freak out, but he had bigger concerns at this point.

Alex didn't feel he was "both" mice though, he felt like he was only the mouse that used to be his upper part and the new body that he could control felt more like an extra limb, an extra limb that happened to be an entire body, that also wasn't physically connected to him. If you asked him which mouse was "Alex" he would respond "The one with a shirt. The one with pants is just an extension of me". At first he thought of the "mouse with the pants" as a "tool" that could help him around in this new form, but that felt wrong, he felt like he had to treat this new body with respect and dignity, a few moments ago he wanted to explore the new body with his "main" body, but he stopped, he realized that in order to give the other body its own dignity, he had to use the hands of THAT body to explore it, in other words "The mouse with the pants" had to explore himself, not have someone else do it for him, even if they were both controlled by the same mind.

Alex hoped there was a way back to his former body, but after a day or two (both hidden in his apartment), he wondered if that would be fair for his other body. He just couldn't bring himself to ask the scientists to turn him back! Alex thought about this for some time and ended up deciding that his new body needed a name if he was going to treat it like a person of its own. The name he chose was "Sam".
