My funnybone literally ruins any drama that my ability to write dialogue doesn't already stab to death.
Also "Lol! Nah man last time we went down to earth we got fucked up. I'll send Blue! It's okay for HIM to get tranq'd!"
Literally as soon as company left on January 1st my mom was like "Okay! Time to very suddenly move furniture and build new walls around the house!" and so we did because my mom can literally say "We building walls that previously weren't there and haven't talked about prior to this moment"

"Last time you were in a coma so I could no longer flex my superior intelligence on your feeble, human mind. I'll just go send blue instead, it is fine if he dies."
Brain rot dump up ahead!
I got a fun idea that I have been wanting to present to you: what if Specter got turned into a human on accident? what would he do upon realizing this? I can imagine he would be taller than Spike and make short jokes (and freak out when his helmet got taken off but realized nothing changed with it off as a human). Maybe in this hypothetical they switch species. Like, this could be a side effect of Spike wearing a helmet for way too long (like maybe a two weeks straight). The way I can see this happening is Specter manages to make a replica and as a joke puts it on Spike ("hahah maybe now you won't suck at math") and it gets stuck. Specter thinks "hmm, I could saw it off" then Spike objects because he holds a saw that looks way too big and sharp for his comfort.
Spike: Pink's outfit was bad enough, but now this? I am never trying on clothes you guys make ever again!
Specter: Stop complaining, the helmet won't come off with your whining alone!
Spike: Well, I don't see how putting a giant saw up to my head would help! That thing could crack open my skull and then what?
Then Specter suggests they get help from someone that Spike really doesn't want to see right now and this whole situations escalates lol. Perhaps the solution is to shrink Spike so that the helmet can get slipped off but it just ends up making him return to mmmonke

I like writing Specter's relationship to Blue being along the lines of "We're like, friends but you're also kinda the expendable one sooooo...."
I kinda like the switching Species idea more than just the Specter becoming a human
(Because it reminds me of this one episode of Gargoyles where that happened and it's one of my favorites because you can tell Goliath didn't consider Elisa as a romantic partner until she was turned into a gargoyle and then he was like "oh shit because of our different species I didn't really notice but now that you are re-conceptualized as something I culturally understand... I never noticed how legit beautiful you are :O")
I think Specter should cover Spike's head in butter and try to convince Yellow there's more under the helmet and see if they can rip it off lol!

Tfw you write something then hit cancel on accident.... aaaaaa
So, I would imagine this situation would become awkward. For one, the biology of an ape (chimp I think?) is different from the biology of a human, minus the fact I have noticed you draw Specter with a smaller rib cage, much more humanoid ape paws (they look v close to hands so it is understandable. I mean, we literally share an ancestor with them so- not sure what that says about human hands), and other things like shorter arms. Maybe the helmet had an effect on Specter's body thus changing his proportions forever? Cannot say. Well, either way some obvious awkward situations would happen.
For one, the most obvious is we can assume their bodies would be suddenly different. They have clothes on their body which likely won't change with them. Cue Specter literally bursting from his clothes whereas Spike could use his clothes like large blankets and probably blushing along with Specter when they realize his downstairs accommodated with him (and one of them screaming for pants to cover it up, maybe after a curious glance from the changed Specter upon realizing what people mean by "humans have the largest in proportion to their body"). He would also notice how hairless humans are. With a few rare examples, humans won't generally have thick coats of hair unlike apes. At best, you have body hair that may look quite sparse to Specter.
The second most obvious difference? Well, the two feet they stand on of course! Specter might feel weird walking around and needing shoes for support (or maybe not? Who knows if trained muscles found in the delicate and complicated system of the flats we walk on would carry over. No really, the feet have so so many small bones and quite a few specific muscles compared to other parts of the body). Spike, would for sure, struggle. He could now grip things but walking would be far more awkward given they are are slightly more poor at absorbing the shock of falls (I think? I'll need to verify this) not to mention his legs would be way way shorter. Cue Specter falling flat on his face multiple times from underestimating his height or even hitting his head.
Then we have the awkward situations for their mouths. Specter's teeth would be flattened considerably leading me to think he would be like "no enlarged canines? Wow, humans are pathetic" whereas Spike starts bleeding because he bit his tongue or lip and responding with, "well hey at least you don't need to worry about having sharp knives in your mouth! Why do you guys have such sharp and large fangs anyways?? Don't you eat mostly vegetables or something?!" Maybe Specter would give him a sly smirk and say he likes meat too. (side note, those large canines are used as weapons and grown when testosterone is the dominant hormone so he wouldn't be far off in that comment being for killing/hurting in combat). Oh yeah, it would be funny if Specter teasted Spike while they went clothes shopping and people saying "wow, what a cute pet there!" and Spike freaking them out when he protests in full sentences. Maybe Specter gets amusement out of this too.
Another thing I would like to know is how would the other apes interact with this change? What would they think when they see a human Specter and a chimpy Spike? More importantly, what would Blue think? Pink? (Hey why does Specter not have a color name? Or did he change his name?) Would they try assigning Spike a color name "hey you're eyes are green, therefor your name could be green!" (I think they're green??)
I would love to see Spike and Specter as the same species at some point, maybe both human and ape form just for the heck of it. Maybe this is a side effect of fine tuning the reversion to their original and they need to take rests between changes. Such drastic changes have to be stressful on the body and dangerous if done rapid fire.

I use Chimp for a lot of my measurements for Specter and the Pipo Apes, but apparently in interviews it's said they're based off of Macaques? For the AU I draw and write Specter in he has a backstory of having been effectively built in a lab as a Ape/Monkey hyrbrid with a design to look appealing to humans who visit that park (Explaining his popularity at the park and why in game he looks more like a human character model than he does compared to the other pipo apes) (Though I do also have in my AU that long term exposure to the Pipo helmets do tend to have a permanent effect on the apes)
"They have clothes on their body which likely won't change with them. Cue Specter literally bursting from his clothes whereas Spike could use his clothes like large blankets"
Specter would be so angry if he burst out of his luxury high end brand pants... but it would be a funny opportunity for Spike to laugh at him like "Oh you laughed at ME for not having a baculum but NOW look who needs to maintain blood pressure to have an erection! How the tables have turned!"
" Well, the two feet they stand on of course! Specter might feel weird walking around and needing shoes for support (or maybe not? Who knows if trained muscles found in the delicate and complicated system of the flats we walk on would carry over."
Specter wears boots in a lot of the games so he's probably be okay in that department, but I bet Spike would step on his Thumb-toe a lot!

Spike has blue eyes. I don't think they would try to change his name on him but they would probably all have something snarky to say to Spike to poke fun at the predicament. As for Specter they'd probably think he's kind of gross looking except Yellow who we've seen is willing to romance a male human in Kei?

interesting :0 (You should really make more coloured pieces at some point so that I could keep track of small details like eyecolour siwhwyahak but also you don't need to bc you are the artist here)
Now I'm imagining Specter yelling up a storm and then tripping on a rock, stubbing his toe, and then realizing what being tall means (yeah I hc he would be a really tall human. Maybe around 6' 4"). Would Spike try going into small spaces? I mean, he would be small so smaller spaces are kind free real estate now.
Imagine if they could willingly swap species but that required they both wanted to do it/were willing to. Maybe Specter wants to be a human more and poor Spike has to choose between letting him do that and then feeling awkward as an ape or risk getting an annoyed/irritated/disappointed Specter. Maybe it could have its perks in missions, I can imagine being in more sync and an ability to swap certain skills quickly would help traverse tough terrain (and maybe the occasional situation where Spike gets tired and wants Specter to carry him. though, not sure how in character that is for him). I'm sure there would be other perks too. I admittedly I never played the game, only seen a bit of gameplay at best.

I don't do that many colored drawings for ape escape, I like the quick turnover of the screen tones. PLUS! It's good practice to get used to Clip Studio Paints screen toning tools when I'm more used to Medibang Paints toning tools!
Lol Being tall means ACTUALLY having to make sure your head isn't going to hit a door frame, and long legs mean accidentally banging your knee into things when walking by them! If Human!Specter was going to be 6'4", why not make Spike an extra small monkey? Like smaller than Ape!Specter? Shoulder sitting sized? Then he could fit in all KINDS of tiny spaces!
I don't know how in character it would be for Specter to want to be a human considering just how adamant he is about Ape Superiority and hates being compared to humans in any way shape or form, But the idea that he'd be enjoying the extra height or just rubbing it in Spike's face would be funny!
If you ever get a chance to play any of the games they're a treat really. Simple enjoyable platformers with admittedly only a teaspoon of story each...

"why am I so hairless?? How do you humans survive like this?"
"With clothes, Specter. You can always layer up in clothes quickly unlike waiting a few days for fur to grow long enough"
Meanwhile Spike starts complaining about being small and then Specter puts a silly little hat on him to shut him up for a moment (more so the confusion of suddenly hat would make him stop talking). Maybe he tries telling Spike why apes are better while Spike is in tiny ape form.
I might have to play them at some point! Though maybe not now because my body hates me for missing T for a few days (T means testosterone)

Even funnier: Without the fur to protect his skin (He's still a super pale albino) he gets sunburned not realizing he has to protect his skin :P
Turns into the lilo and stitch scene where she puts the flowers on Stitch and he just drops like a brick!
What happens if you miss Testosterone for a few days?

for a few days:

a few weeks:
-emotions begin to destabilize, dysphoria makes a return
-libido drops
a month:
-emotions are unstable
-cycle continues

a few months:

honestly, yeah it sucks ass. I take my T via gel, however, there is the intramuscular or subcutaneous injection form of T. I got tired of poking myself with needles so I went to gel.
To answer your question: yes, cramps will happen if you go off of T (usually) because the lack of it will often mean a surplus of E will start cycling into the system again after a few days. That isn't the worst part, though. It's how it fucks with my emotions to not having T in my system. Hormones do influence emotions and if left off of T for long enough I will get emotionally unstable and potentially get some really really dark thoughts (as I have been unfortunately reminded). Kinda crazy how being off of T can caused me to go into a depression.

Your mother sounds like quite the wild card to your planned schedule.
Also, it's fun to see Specter's lack of restraint finally in conflict with his denial; even if Spike has to repeatedly point out that Specter cannot pretend that he's not crossing boundaries AND blatantly stare at Spike's panties

She is! It's never really my planned schedule as much as it's what she wants to do that day. But hey, ya can't pick your family or their isms.
By that point Specter is just exhausting himself trying to restrain himself and not even trying to keep up the image of denying his interest anymore. He needs a nap before he can start that shit up again! Too bad he ain't getting that nap. He's going shopping with his not-boyfriend-human-pet-thing who wants to talk about the relationship they totally don't have.
