(This story is based on something that happened to me when I was a child. With changes to make it more spooky... And slightly longer.)
It was just another day for the chocolate wolf once he arrived home from his workplace. He'd change out of his uniform, pop some popcorn, and turn on an old movie he partially liked.
Routine as always. And he was getting sick of it. If course, at least he was helping people, as all officers should. Though he really was starting to feel bored of his daily routine.
Perhaps he'd ask for a few days off to get some time for himself, hadn't had that in awhile. Heck, maybe he'd hang with Vanilla when that happened? She was pretty free most of the time. It had been a long time since they were just hanging together.
Even after finishing the film, he couldn't help but sill feel sickened by this repeating routine. Not everything remains fun forever. Even if you'd want it to, it just wasn't true. Everyone needs a break every now and then.
He brushed his teeth, the minty paste leaving a slight sting on his mouth, like it always did. Spitting the foam into the sink and washing his mouth with some water, he was now ready to head off to sleep to begin another boring day.
Laying in his bed, the chocolate wolf relaxed his breathing and gently closed his eyes... Ready to nod of for some peace and quiet. Turning the light off before entering a world of peaceful dreams.

He jolted awake as fast as he sleept. He didn't bother to check the time, as he didn't care enough to and was about to doze off again.... That was until, he saw something standing out of the corner of his eye.
It was a... Figure of sorts, standing still in the pitch darkness of his bedroom, not allowing him to make it out clearly. It stood there, not moving a muscle, making Choco feel uncomfortable, like something wasn't right...
"I have to be dreaming, or hallucinating." He thought. This simply couldn't be real, sleep paralysis, perhaps. Though he'd never experienced it before, there was a first time for everything.
It moved. By god it moved. It's hand shifted in the darkness, causing a terrified feeling to fill his entire body, leaving him in a cold sweat. He instinctively cleaned the sweat from his brow with his paw... Wait.... He could move. If this was sleep paralysis, then he couldn't...
It moved again, moving closer slowly. Inching closer with each second. A heavy feeling feel in his chest, this had to be a dream. It had to be a dream, more like a nightmare, this wasn't real! It couldn't be! No, it wasn't, right?
It was at the foot of his bed now, sitting still again, looking down upon the wolf in a way that made him feel unsafe, like something terrible was about to turn it's ugly head.
The shadowy creatures claws pressed themselves on his bed, as it began to shift it way onto the soft mattress. Moving towards his chest, starting into his very soul with black empty eyes. It didn't even have a face, he could cleary see. Which didn't help much.
It was staring into his own face, just inches away, if the thing could breathe he'd most certainly be feeling it's hot or cold breath touching his face. He wanted to move so badly, but at this point he was paralysed with fear.
Grabbing the pistol from his bedside, he was about to shoot it before he felt it though his chest with those claws, a burning pain coursing though the contact area. He let out the loudest scream he ever had in his life, unable to contain to bottled up fear any longer, and due to the pain, let it all out into a blood curdling scream.
***
He jolted awake again, seeing the sun shining through his window. It was morning. That all had to be a dream, right? That's what he tells himself sometimes, though I would bag to differ. After all, watching him sleep is so thrilling.

That actually is a milder version of sleep paralysis. Horrible when it happens, as you are never sure if you are awake or not. Even better when your brain pulls an "inception" move, where you awake from a nightmare, just to find out, that it is actually still going on... And it barely ever happens when it is bright outside...
