Comissioned by a friend of mine for him and his then-boyfriend, now-fiance! It's silly, it's sweet, it's doggerel, and... it's short.

Text of the poem follows:

There once was a kobold named Kip
Who dreamed of a dragon named Drake
Kip tried everything under the sun
To make Drake's heart his own to take

He baked Drake a cake, but it fell
He sang Drake a song, but he muffed
He even tried to do a cartwheel
But he tumbled and ended up scuffed

Kip tried to write Drake a love letter
But he misspelled every single word
He tried to impress Drake with his wit
But he ended up looking absurd

Finally, Kip realized the key to Drake's heart
Was not through gifts or grand displays
It was through Kip's loyalty and devotion
That truly captured Drake's gaze

Kip was always there for Drake
Through thick and thin, rain or shine
And this is what won Drake's love
This little kobold's true self so fine

So Kip and Drake lived happily
The little kobold and the dragon bright
Proving that love knows no bounds
And sincerity wins the fight
