Malaki can see blue purple and yellow. Those colors tand out to him which is why in btac 14 the present is wrapped in purple paper. In btac 13 the flower he picks is blue and yellow.

To malaki these colors are more vibrant and look good and so he gets them as gifts. Its also interesting to think that when he looks in the mirror he doesnt see a red fox

This even could play a part on why he likes blueberries
