Original Species: Jungle Carnosaur
Well...it's been a hot minute. Time for the first upload of 2023. Not gonna start it with a bang, just more of the usual.
The eastern part of the Continent of Arcadia is covered by a dense, tropical forest. Due to the density of the foliage and the resulting lack of space, many of the giants found on the western side of the continent had to adapt in order to make use of this cramped but rich environment.
The Jungle Carnosaur is one of the main reptilian predators that hunt in the gloom of the lush, tropical forest. It is significantly smaller than its western counterpart and has a coloration much more suited for the ever-present greenery. It is an ambush predator that targets a variety of prey animals: from small sauropods to bovids, and land-dwelling avian creatures.
Males of this species poses a patch of bright-blue skin on and under their lower jaw. This eye-catching splash of color is used for mating displays and in territorial confrontations between members of the same sex. In both cases, the male carnosaur lets out a deep booming groan which is meant to both intimidate and impress all who see it. The brighter the blue and the deeper the groan, the better.
