It was terraformed by bringing its icy moon past the roche limit causing it to rain almost constantly. In 100k years the whole planet will be underwater, but as of now it is one giant bog. Originally the planet was a volcanic wasteland.

It has black soil which is covered in a form of moss that is good at absorbing volcanic chemicals. This peat is only about 1 meter thick as of now since the planet was terraformed about 120 years ago
