For me, it's a struggle between what I want to draw, and story. Stories usually involve suspense, plot, setup, character. These things involve backgrounds, extras, building up, dialogue. So even if I start in-media-res, there's still some establishment of what's going on, and why. Some questions that need to be answered, such as who is narrating. I find I spend a lot of time getting stuck on those, with the end result being nothing.

The art, too, has to be interesting, because if it's boring to draw it'll probably be boring to look at. However, interesting, takes time, and that's my real big enemy, as I'm quite far behind where I'd like to be at this stage of my life.
