Just more update doodles for the loresite! As that is what I am mostly doing in my spare time in regards to outside of the comic! and revamping the older doodles of the Biology and social behavior webpages for the DragonScape. I'll be posting them into scraps to not clog up the comic flow.
So here is an update on the image for the preggo dreko and I'll just do a quick loreblurb.
Drekir are a species engineered for purpose and task and one of those is to make a lotta kids in a very short period of time, without disrupting workflow. So of course drekir tend to handle eggs relatively easily. The average gestation period is between 14-18 days for the average egg and, due to its growth behind the boot and more or less well centered, doesn't disrupt a drek too much. It may slightly slow down a pregnant drek but it by no means really stops them from continuing to do physical activity or work, meaning that its common for a pregnant drek to not really stop doing what they normally do. The only time a drek really needs to stop and address their gravid period is during the laying process, which after a few years of laying eggs drekir tend to get done very quickly.
An egg or seven a year really doesn't do much to stop a drek.
The egg itself is a soft leathery egg, more like a snakes egg than a birds egg. Also an egg tends to take about 4-5 months to hatch after laying, straightforward! Though eggs tend to be tempermental to the abnormally cold or hot of weather.
