“War is hell, not just for the people who fight in it, but for the people who must sit and wait, unable to do anything about it.
“It’s been two years since the war started, and it’s been two years since I last saw my husband. I knew I married a lieutenant general that military affairs would come first and foremost, but I never expected to be away from him for so long.
“I sit and wait in our manor as the days go by. I lay and dream of holding him, kissing him, and feeling his warm touch once more.
“And I think back to the day he asked me to be his. We met in his garden late one night. He offered me a rose and told me how he’d longed for me. He said that, from the moment we first met at his father’s ball, he’d wanted nothing more than to take hold of me and kiss me beneath the moonlight.
“That was a long time ago. Now, I’m the one left yearning. I feel lost without him. I’m cold, lonely, empty. Even looking at his portrait above the mantle isn’t enough anymore. I must see him, I must bask in his presence, I must grab him by the lapels and kiss him and tell him that I’ll always be his.
“But for now, I must sit. I must sit and wait and hear the clock tick and the fire crackle and the paint peeling and the days passing and the world dying as I do without him.
“There are days I fear I may no longer able to go on.
“It’s a quiet winter morning. As I walk through the foyer, I hear the sound of his carriage in the courtyard.”

So this isn’t my usual stuff. I wrote this little tune after seeing a piece of furry art I liked on Tumblr, and thought I might as well post it here. It’s short and not that complex, I know (I mainly write video game music, so it stops abruptly where it’s supposed to loop), but sometimes it just feels nice to post into the void, y’know?
I have a kind of big spanking story in the works so look out for that!
