Otter_Pop and I did a still life setup the other day. This is one of my two faves of the day.
A still life is an exercise in pure technique. The artist controls every aspect of subject, lighting, framing, composition, etc. There is no excuse of "missing the moment" because you get as looong as you want to get it right.
This is why a still life is so damn hard.
This shot came from about the six hour mark in the shoot. Yeah, we took breaks, but honestly it just does take that much time.

Water-solouble plastic spheres. Same thing as was in the vase of green gel in "Madness Sweet". I spent a while playing with food coloring and them a while back, so they aren't clear like they used to be. Just something funky I found at the craft store and had fun playing with.
