This was recorded in 2011 under the working title of "Cuddled by the Fire", but for reasons that I've since forgotten, I hesitated to upload it until tonight.
Back in 2011, I leafed through some of the preset rhythms on a Yamaha YPT-220 MIDI keyboard that I had at the time, until I found one that I liked, and then I noodled around with the auto-accompaniment feature. After creating the basic chord progression, I added a swirling, phased string ensemble synthesizer part that matched that chord progression, and then, on my Yamaha ET-112 electric guitar in clean signal mode (as opposed to distorted/overdrive), I alternated between a simple yet gentle strum pattern (you can definitely hear some of my mistakes), and advanced finger picking. For the final verse of the song, I layered the gentle strums over the picking.
In 2016, I donated the YPT-220 to a local charity, so that I could make room for the Yamaha YPG-235 portable digital piano that I presently own, while the ET-112 remains in my possession.
