What's black, white & red all over? A Zebra Leg Prop!
I don't normally do prop commissions! In fact besides doing a marshmallow for Coco_chocolate_wolf I hadn't really actually done them for others before!
In this case, I had a special request during Rainfurrest 2010 for a zebra leg prop for
kijani_lion. He filmed our props panel so I thought I'd do it for him! :3
The bone squeaks and the prop is made of anti-pill fleece with applique bone/fat/meat and zebraprint fleece skin. Partially machine-sewn, partially hand-sewn this is definitely something that came out super-cool. The "bone" is a little floppy, since the meat came out so meaty after it was stuffed, the bone has a foam core.
It is going to be SO cute for Kijani to carry around in his lion fursuit. Just you wait and see!

Nope, used a zigzag stitch, its also known as a satin stitch! :D

For an all-soft plush meat there is definitely an advantage to it not having any hard bits. It could be used as a pillow for example! My props occasionally make their way to my sofa as cute throw pillows.
My ham for example is 2x bigger, and so I used a foam pipe insulation, its kind of krinkly and hard so I think I prefer this level of softness in the Zebra leg. It stays straight when held firmly in one hand, so I think thats all it needs. :3
