So
Chiaroscuro was playing around with idea and pitched 'coatree' and my but that's a nice notion. I may not have the chance to play it on a furry muck this season, but that's no reason not to do a quick doodle and have it in the bank ready to deploy if it ever turns up.
This pose is based a little more closely than usual on photographs of coatis standing, which is why the paws come closer to having some shape than usual. Also you can see how coatis somehow manage to come down on the 'why can't you just be normal' side of the plantigrade/digitigrade divide.
For the background I tried out just doodling some loose tree shapes using the simulated magic marker and I think I hit the wrong level of abstraction here, but I also ran out of ideas for how to add shape to the background without threatening to pull focus from a coati-tree.
All the 'lights' ended up being white because a diversity of colors didn't stand out well against the 'ornaments'.
