"You've come to replace us?" That sounds rather like something a bigot from our world would say.
Someone needs to seriously take the corrupt deer-god out back and figure out just what the frack is going on with this dude. Either he's gone all Nightmare Moon after the battle with the Puppetmancer or (as plenty have speculated) he lost the battle and now is the Puppetmancer (or one of his major minions).
That he found a fellow Youkai and immediately hit him with a shin tsen fū does not bode well for ANY of the possibilities. Whatever happened to this shishigami, he ain't Ayal any more.

I... doubt that. It wasn't Lady Saida he immediately attacked, it was Roko, and Ayal is obsessive about "puppets." The quetz queen is greedy, petty and can hold a grudge forever, but she doesn't seem to care much about ruling the world, just pretending she's a dragon and collecting as many baubles as she can extort out of everyone else.
I am noticing a weird pattern that everyone involved puppetmancer in major way that we met so far Have gone to more extreme measures due their emotions with Queen been greedy to point she rob Brandon of his wings for simply having a single jewel that she think he stole (when she collecting hundreds of same one) and deer being worried beyond compare about his forest and role in it.
You might be onto something... It the Queen is being controlled by greed, Ayal is possibly being affected by jealousy. Insistent on his control over the Forest to the point of direct hostility to those whom might be able to fix said issue. The puppet master could very well be pulling the strings on those he fought against so long ago, tugging on the Seven Deadly Sins (not the anime) found in living hearts to assure they can't work together to stop him again.
