In a dual narrative between Oren and the One-Eyed Wolf, the story delves into the past and provides insight into the wolf pack, as well as Oren’s motivations for starting the Hollow. One big rule of warfare; once you unleash a new weapon the other side can deconstruct and figure out how to counter it. Wolves are unlikely to use it for themselves since their mouths and paws have daggers already.
So like... Tooth²?! 😬

I get a desert feel. 😕
It wasn't making sense to me. Them still being in the wood's yet the different background, what can be seen of it, in the last panel.
But after what you said I'm thinking that they left the wood's before Hemlock set out to kill them.
