it looks like the fletching, the feathers of the arrow, would hit his paw holding the wood of the bow, with as fast as the arrows might get, it could hurt or cut into his paw.
here;s what I found
Hold the bow in your right hand. Place the tip of your thumb in the "U" created by the frog. Bend your thumb to wrap your other fingers around the bow. Your thumb should always remain bent while holding the bow.
Place your index finger over the bow. The first joint of your finger should rest on the back of the bow.
Naturally curve your middle and ring finger over the bow. Don't grip the bow, your hand should curve over it gently.
Place the tip of your pinkie on the bow. Your pinkie should be bent curving to touch the bow.
Now that you have all your fingers in place, lift and lower the bow. You should feel the weight of the bow in your index finger, thumb and pinkie finger. These are the main fingers that will help you control the bow. By applying pressure to the bow with your index finger you will create a louder sound. By lifting the bow slightly with your pinkie finger, you will make a quieter sound.
Practice holding the bow and playing. Remember your pinkie and thumb should always be bent while holding the bow.

thank you for those infos. I'm not sure if I understand all correctly (language barrier), but I will look for references so next time the respective critter wouldn't hurt themselves. :)
I guess the little tyke above will soon find out he's fallen back in bad habits holding the bow. ^^

that's true. and who knows, maybe I can find a cheap book about shooting a bow to use for references. :)
googling for images most times doesn't lead anywhere. you have 3 millions hits, of which 2 millions have nothign to do with your parameters, and of the remaing ones the majority is useless for your needs. :P
